Comment: It's hard to imagine how they built those things right on the side of a steep slab of rock, especially without modern technology. They must have had some pretty clever engineers.

A Rhine Castle * As with most of the castles, this one was mostly left in ruins. If I remember right, this particular monolith was destroyed by Napolean's army, but there were a lot that looked kinda like this, so don't quote me on that. * 1024 x 768 * (222KB)

St. Goar's Ferry * We got off the train about halfway down the valley at the little town of St. Goar. We hopped on a ferry to cross to the other side and have a look around before getting back on the train to continue south toward Rudesheim. * 1024 x 768 * (247KB)
