Comment: An old vineyard in Rudesheim.
A Rhine Castle * As with most of the castles, this one was mostly left in ruins. If I remember right, this particular monolith was destroyed by Napolean's army, but there were a lot that looked kinda like this, so don't quote me on that. * 1024 x 768 * (222KB)

View From Ferry 1 * Yet another castle loomed over us while taking the St. Goar's ferry. * 768 x 1024 * (203KB)

St. Goar's Ferry * We got off the train about halfway down the valley at the little town of St. Goar. We hopped on a ferry to cross to the other side and have a look around before getting back on the train to continue south toward Rudesheim. * 1024 x 768 * (247KB)

View From Ferry 2 * It's hard to imagine how they built those things right on the side of a steep slab of rock, especially without modern technology. They must have had some pretty clever engineers. * 1024 x 768 * (182KB)

Evidence * This isn't an elaborate hoax. See? We really were in St. Goar. * 768 x 1024 * (322KB)

Quiet Guy at the Next Table * He didn't talk the whole time we were there. * 2272 x 1704 * (1.51MB)

Rudesheimer Coffee ... The Movie * Rudesheimer Coffee seems to be a pretty big deal. There's a little ritual involved in partaking. Basically, they put a little brandy in a cup of strong coffee, light it on fire, stir it, and then put some whipped cream on top. It was pretty good, but expensive. More importantly, it was fun. * 768 x 1024 * (183KB)

Rhine Valley Vineyards * We caught the vineyards at a good time. Yellow was all over. * 1024 x 768 * (257KB)
